1. www.sxc.hu

Stock.XChng is one of the leading sites that offer high quality, high resolution, royalty free stock images for personal and public work. They allow you to use their images on websites, presentations, videos, cell phones, magazines, brochures, flyers, CD covers even business cards and letterheads! Some image rights do vary from picture to picture, so be sure to check the image restrictions first. At last glance, sxc.hu had over 336,000 photos in multiple categories.

2. http://gimp-savvy.com/PHOTO-ARCHIVE/

Gimp-Savvy.com is a community-indexed photo archives. Most of the images came from NASA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). The photos you’ll find here are copyright free, but some restrictions still apply. Specifically, people have a legal right to privacy, and the use of their likeness for commercial advertising typically requires a consent agreement. If a person is recognizable in an image, a model release must be obtained before using the image for commercial purposes.

3. http://yotophoto.com/

Yotophoto is a powerful image search engine for free-to-use stock photographs and images. These are images that are either in the Public Domain or released under generous Creative Commons, GNU FDL or similar licenses.

4. http://pdphoto.org/

About PD Photo:
PDPhoto.org is a repository for free public domain photos. Unless something is clearly marked as being copyrighted, you can assume it is free to use. But if you intend to use an image you find here for commercial use, please be aware that standards for such use are higher. Specifically, you should assume no model release was obtained. And pictures featuring products or property should be used with care.

5. http://flickr.com/photos/stockphoto_free/

This guy on Flickr.com is allowing anyone to freely use his photos. In his own words,

"If you are looking for free photo’s to use for your advertisment of leaflet or whatever. Just take what you need. For high resolution pictures i will charge you some euros. after that it’s all yours for the rest of your life."
