How Do I Get Around Websense Even It Has Proxy Sites Blocked?

My school has Wbsense blocking everything interesting on the net, myspace, youtube, you think of it they have it blocked. So how do i get around websense even if they have proxy sites blocked?

You need to set up your own proxy server on your computer at home. It’s not a small task, but it can be done for free.
You use Apache server and install a Perl interpreter then install a SSL layer to encrypt your communications. The home computer does the surfing and routs the results to your remote machine. You’ll need to know the IP address of your home computer, and if you’re behind a router firewall, you’ll need to configure the ports to allow traffic.

Like I said, it’s not a small project, but you can pull it off if you persevere. I’ve done it myself, and it does work.

I use these 3, they all work for anything. Many of the proxies posted on here have alot of popups or anoying adware and the displayed website is all messed up. but ya what you are saying about the proxy is correct but if you notice that websense blocks peer to peer sites, and proxy or any pattern that seems to proxy or connect p2p so i don’t know exactly how you are going to do this….

OK! Getting past websense is actually really easy:
First, you can try to access a blocked site with https.
I’ll use facebook as an example. You can’t access http://www.facebook.com when it is blocked; however, you can try to type https://www.facebook.com and that sometimes works.
If that doesn’t work, try downloading Hotspotshield. (use https to access their website) I use Hotspotshield almost every day at school.
ANOTHER way to access blocked sites is to use a proxy server, like vtunnel.com or newipnow.com (could be .org) remember to use the https to access proxy sites.
the final way to bypass websense that i know of is to ping the ip adress. I dont think this method works anymore, but what you would do is type ping (websitename) in the command prompt or terminal. take the ip adress and paste it into where the url goes.
I have used all of these methods, and they all work, except for the ping one. All of these methods work for both windows and mac. I’m not sure if hotspotshield works for linux. To be honest, having these computers in some schools is a complete waste of money. In my ‘Finance’ class we are given spreadsheets and told to copy them into Microsoft Excel. I grew up with computers, I know these programs and how they work.
The question is, why are we spending money supplying kids with computers, only to have them sit there and stare blankly at screens, wondering what time the bell will ring? I understand if we were to use it for research, but there are Libraries for that. And in this day and age, how many people don’t have a computer at home? To be blunt, websense is pointless.

I had to make sure I put the “s” into the URL, but both https://vtunnel.com and https://newipnow.com let me navigate to sites that pop up a websense window when I try them directly in my browser.
