No matter what anyone says on yahoo answers your absolute best place to start is by investing in a book about the kind of investments you intend to make. Long term-mid term-short term-swing-day trade-or scalp. The stock market is simply a place where money changes hands. It generally goes from the uninformed to the well informed. The goal for investors of all types is to be more informed and diciplined than the next guy. If you just want a quick place to throw your money then I suggest any blue chip stock with good fundamentals. Hope this helps
