Buying Stocks Online?
I’ve done my research and i’ve got alot of experience, but i’ve decided to take the route of buying stocks and shares online, but one question? When you buy stocks or shares, do you get sent a certificate of some sort, in the post or via Word/PDF format? And is it mandatory to recieve one, or do you have to pay a couple extra quid to recieve one? Cheers.

no certificate. it’s all electronic. since you’re prob going to sell them before long, the trading co. holds them.
I’ve made a few purchases online. You will receive an email verifying / detailing your purchase…nothing in the mail.
they are kept in streetname.
no you don’t receive a pdf from most sites, you do get a receipt though, the share documents are normally held by the company you are using to purchase the shares and stored internally
I don’t think you get shate certificate, you get a contract notice and the certificate is held in a nominee account with the stockbroker.
Well, for free you get it all by email, and or on the account online.
But I have seen, for an extra $2 one place and an extra $5 another. You can have them mail you the papaer work.
I beleive it’s mostly I statement though.
Good luck. Even if you don’t get one. They have it down very good, on how to keep trakc of it all. So there’s nothing you have to worry about!
