I am 16 and I would like to buy stocks online, I don’t want to open a joint account with my parents or anyone else. Does anyone no if I can buy stocks online, and if so where?

when you buy stocks online after the market closes are you buying at that days close or the next days open. because i noticed that a stock may close at lets say $17.36 but open the next day at $17.30, so after 4:00pm if i go online and buy at $17.36 but it opens at a different number what happens?

The right question to ask is should you buy stocks at all.
The first thing to do is pay off your non-deductible debt(line of credit, credit cards, car loans) Build a rainy day fund in a TFSA. Then and only then should you consider investing.
You could hit a home run and have a long string of winners to solve your financial problems. That is definitely not a good way to bet.

Online trading is offered by many companies and you will need to do some homework. There is not one that fits all needs. It depends on the amount of money you have and how often you plan on trading for starters.
As far as Rite Aid, I would stay away from it. It may not last another year in business. There are those who feel it will be acquired by a larger company and the price will go up on that possibility but that does not always happen. I highly recommend against buying that stock.

I just signed up with sharebuilder and they buy in on Tuesday for you. I also have a simulated stock portfolio on investopedia to see the flucuations in share values.
So, what I want to do is see a stock at a daily low and go in a buy it immediately. Is that possible online? It seems like it should be. And yes, I’m new to this.
